Plastic Surgeon by Day, Artist by Night

Posted by Advanced Specialty Care on Jan 17, 2019 1:20:44 PM

For Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Prashant Soni, his artistic talent extends far beyond the operating room.

By day, Dr. Soni's canvas is the human body where he combines advanced medicine with precision artistry to carry out complex cosmetic and reconstructive procedures from facelifts to post-masectomy breast reconstructions. But outside of seeing patients at Advanced Specialty Care or performing surgeries at the hospital, he can be found chalking up entirely different works of art with his family--on a chalkboard. (See pictures of his chalk art below!)

What was initially a central space for family notes and reminders, the chalkboard in his house quickly transformed into a canvas where whimsical drawings, often inspired by the unabridged creativity of his three children, come to life.

Posted by Advanced Specialty Care on Nov 16, 2018 4:01:41 PM

Jessica Mangiaracina, Dermatology PA and skincare expert, shares some of her favorite medical grade skincare products that she uses in her own daily regimen and explains the difference between medical grade and over-the-counter. And yes, there really is a difference!

Don’t get me wrong I’m all for sheet masks and toners, and jelly or oil cleansers! I love mixing the over-the-counter with my medical grade skincare products, but I choose and recommend the medical grade products every time because I know they’re effective for stimulating collagen, smoothing skin texture, minimizing brown spots, treating acne and leaving us with glowing skin.

Following Mohs Surgery, Consider Involving a Plastic Surgeon

Posted by Advanced Specialty Care on Oct 18, 2018 4:33:47 PM

The threat of skin cancer isn't just limited to summer months. For our dermatologists and plastic surgeons, we treat patients with skin cancer year-round.

While there are different treatment options for patients, such as a plastic surgeon removing the lesion or having Mohs surgery by a dermatologist, an important and often unthought of consideration, is how the wound will be closed after skin cancer is removed.

Dr. Soni, Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeon, recently performed a wound closure on a patient's face after they underwent Mohs surgery from a local dermatologist. Schedules were coordinated between the two doctors in order to ensure that the patient could be seen by Dr. Soni immediately after the Mohs surgery.

How To Fix Torn or Split Earlobes

Posted by admin on Jun 20, 2018 12:00:35 PM

Split or incompletely split earlobes are a common problem we see in our plastic surgery practice. Sometimes the split may be the result of a tear of the earlobe from an accident, say a woman getting an earring caught on something. In other instances, the split may result from a slow tearing of the skin in someone with diminished skin strength from wearing heavy earrings often. Either way, there is a remedy that can repair the damage.
