Advanced Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery’s, Dr. David Goldenberg, was recently featured in Plastic Surgery News, an award winning plastic surgery publication, and a brief video documentary, for his involvement in an unusual tumor case that has gained national attention.

Dr. Goldenberg, who is also section chief of plastic surgery at Danbury Hospital, worked alongside Danbury Hospital’s Dr. Karl Kulikowski, vice chairman of the anesthesia department, and gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Vaagn Andikyan, to remove a 132 pound ovarian tumor and provide abdominal reconstruction for the 38 year old patient.

The complex, five-hour surgery was the first-of its-kind and thanks to the careful planning and expertise of the surgical team, what could have been a life-threatening procedure was instead a life-saving and life-changing success. Dr. Goldenberg recounts the complexities of the surgery in the Plastic Surgery News article below (click the article to enlarge):

According to Dr. Goldenberg, the surgery was a risky one. “The huge weight of the tumor made anesthesia really dangerous. All of a sudden you are going to reduce that weight in a flash, and the cardiac system has to adjust very quickly, so there was a tremendous amount of preparation done beforehand to anticipate that kind of a problem.”

Earlier this year, the team of three physicians were also interviewed for a feature story in the Danbury News-Times that you can click here to read.

Dr. Goldenberg regularly performs cosmetic and plastic surgery, including nose surgery, eyelid surgery, tummy tucks, breast augmentation, liposuction and facelifts. Castle Connolly has named him a Top Doctor for the past four years. Dr. Goldenberg practices in the Danbury and New Milford, CT offices of Advanced Specialty Care.
